Bespoke storage solutions
I specialise in custom designed cabinet making inspired largely, but not only, by early to mid 20th century modernism. I work with mainly birch plywood because of its versatility, structural integrity and capacity to take a host of beautiful finishes, either varnished nude, stained or painted.
I also work to client briefs and have made cabinets with reclaimed wood and sustainably sourced hardwoods. I strive to make beautiful and functional pieces of furniture that bring joy to the client.

When my wife and I decided early last year that we wanted to buy our first home in London, David was one of the first people I called. He was very helpful from the beginning, and came on several site visits before we exchanged, spotting many things we had missed. Post completion, we engaged him in two capacities: as a project manager, and as a carpenter.
As a project manager, he planned and co-ordinated a long list of things that we wanted done to the house before we moved in. This included electrical and plumbing work, removal of old shelving and storage units, stripping the oak floor in the living/dining room, replacement of numerous kitchen appliances, constructing some beautiful natural wood shelving, and remodelling our fireplace/chimney stack to turn it into a media centre. This involved several specialist subcontractors in addition to David's own work, but David took care of all the details.
As a carpenter, he built several bespoke storage units for us. One replaced our understairs space with much more useful large pull-out drawers. He removed a poorly fitting cupboard on the landing and replaced it with a bespoke unit to store the washing machine, tumble dryer and other cleaning facilities. He also tore out the bath in the adjoining bathroom and replaced with a walk in shower and custom made a bathroom cabinet with fitted sink.
At all times, David was a pleasure to work with, and his workmanship was of the highest standard. He took a collaborative approach with us, helping us explore alternative designs and iterate until we found the best answer. When we encountered difficulties, he calmly recommended solutions that worked within our budget. We are delighted with the work David completed for us, and recommend him without hesitation.

About Me
I come from an Art and Design background. I understand the fusion of the craft of making tangible things and the art of things you just look at and appreciate. I was a photographer for 20 years, am a cabinet maker of more than 10 years and have been making things since I was a teenager. Born and brought up in Cardiff, I have recently relocated back to Cardiff after 30 years in London.
